Palm Frond took its inspiration from the lobby of the Miami Beach Edition hotel in South Beach which was populated by a nice menagerie of potted palm trees.  The hotel lobby designer chose to plant spot lights in the base of the trees thereby creating interesting cast shadows.  I wanted to see if I could do the same in a small lamp, and while I failed in casting shadows in the white version of this lamp, the black does cast shadows on the ceiling nicely.
